Nagaland – home of the last headhunters
India, where it is least “Indian”. Where traditional headhunting was practiced until about 50 years ago, despite prohibitions. The old headhunters still live today. They have characterful faces, furrowed hands, they chew betel nuts. Eye-catching tattoos on the face and chest prove that the wearer was once a successful headhunter. Captivated images from another time.
